Yoga in the University Classroom

In the past few years, my students at Georgia Tech have become more curious about my work as a yoga practitioner/teacher, and have been more invested in these practices themselves. I’ve also begun to incorporate issues of well-being more directly into my classroom. This is particularly apt in my Literature and Medicine class (a course I teach almost every year) since our discussions and readings address issues related to health, wellness, and medical culture. Here are some clips from a recent classroom discussion/guest visit with Dr. Tiffany Johnson from the Scheller College of Business at GT. Her research is on grind culture and workplace wellness, and we have given talks and collaborated on projects related to campus care and well-being. In these clips we discuss topics including yoga and creativity/productivity, embodiment and justice, our own yoga experiences, and more. Check it out:
